So I just got SMD to fill in time until Sun/Moon, and I can't settle on a starter + partner. What's the partner's personality like this time around?

I don't want to start playing and end up resetting for new starters like I did with Sky.

Also, my favorites from each gen are

>Chespin

And I hate Riolu, but like Pikachu. I don't ever evolve my starters either.

The partner's pretty hyperactive and has a thing for adventuring. The rest of the cast in the first part of the story find her pretty annoying, but later warm up to her after helping the others out. She's also a lot more emotional than the player, who mostly just sits in the sidelines throughout the story.

Most people would suggest Chespin, because he's overpowered and has a pretty good moveset. Used Totodile in my first run, he wasn't bad at all either.

I don't think I would want to wake up as a hoppip, despite it being my favorite shitmon family.

I think it'd make a nice one-shot psychological fanfic, where mc is contemplating on things while he idly floats with the wind, maybe encountering some other mon on the way and whenever the wind stops nlowing. Idk, it sounds kinda comfy, actually.

It's not hard at all as long as you prepare and use the proper items. Petrify Wands/Orbs are your friend, and if there's a tough enemy at a corridor, you can use a Warp/Stayaway Wand to get them to move. Pounce Wands can be used to traverse long corridors very quickly, and you can also use it at a water tile to warp away from enemies. Buy all the Reviver Seeds you can to avoid anything crazy from killing you.
If you still suck, you could always buy vitamins from Cofagrigus or grind on Pelipper Island, but that's not fun.

What the fuck, it looks like it's just fucking jogging everywhere. At least Riolu looked like it was actually running. Delphox was bad, but this is actually worse. At least I didn't see enough of Lucario's movement animations during the final arc to hate it then, would have irrevocably taken me out of the game. I don't want to restart, but Riolu's moveset is expanded so far by evolution that not doing so is a bad idea, and Fennekin has the same problem with Delphox (although Braixen isn't half bad). Fanart's cute, concept's cute, I want it so much...but the stupid flailing jog in the overworld fucking ruins it.

It's not really the jog (as a concept I like a Lucario that doesn't do the naruto run) that's the issue persay, but it's the fact that he... like, it's so... "staccato"? It doesn't look like a natural running animation in the slightest, he hops from foot to foot like he's playing hot potato, and his arms barely move to boot. I share your pain, anonpal.

It's not fair. Why do Pokémon like Serperior and Cofagrigus get good animations but bipeds get the shaft?
