So my granny has officially been diagnosed with Alzheimers...
Can we get a cute thread going? I need something to cheer me up...
We did, you must have forgotten
Cheer up, she's not going to remember her diagnosis.
>>27848707
Hahaha this is some good shit
>>27848661
Well OP, relish her while you can though, at you still got her.
Here is a comfy piece a Drawanon did for me.
Don't feel sad OP!
It's okay, opee.
At least she has loving people like you who support her, even if she isn't sure of it.
>>27848707
Ok, I must admit that was actually pretty funny.
>>27848707
This actually made me think, of course it would be bad news, but I've never seen how someone handles this.
But goddamn, OP, here are some cuties for you.
im sorry anon
puns
That sucks, OP. My granny died of Alzheimers. The disease was a toil on the family as a whole, it's a very difficult experience.
Do cherish every moment that you spend with her from now on and try not to feel sad or angry when she starts to forget your name or your face.
Thanks Anons
>>27849104
We thankfully got the disease diagnosed early, so she can get medicated and stay autonomous longer.
>>27848978
Alzheimer's is not just "forgetting" stuff, though, and it's also not sudden. She's probably still functional, if she's just been diagnosed.
You actually do die FROM Azlheimers. The brain starts being being corroded/eaten-up and the body starts to fail organ by organ over years. The memory thing is just the beggining.
Glaceon a cute
Accept my non-lewd Gardevoir, dear anon.
Sorry, it's a terrible disease. Hopefully they will find a cure at some point in our lifetimes, maybe even soon enough to stop progression on your grandma. Stay strong.
>>27849124
Yeah, mine was diagnosed way too late. She died in three years.
I'm glad you have a brighter prospect.
you should give her the PMD personality quiz, see what pokemon she'd get
probably a... uh... hey you should give her the pmd personality quiz
Granny used Amnesia.
>>27849213
Arceus used Judgement
You've been damned to hell
>>27849143
Her memory had been eroding for a little while before which is what got us to seek out treatment for her, but Canadian healthcare is so fucking slow we only got the diagnosis lately.
Case in point, the whole family went to visit a few months back, and granny requested we go buy some margarine because she was running short. Turns out she had like 5 pots in the freezer already.
She also has chronic depression, she tells disturbing shit like "I don't know why I should live anymore" or "At least you can still smile Anon".
I remember when I was younger I volunteered in a retirement home and there was this old lady who was completely ravaged by Alzheimers. She spoke in gibberish and occasionally "picked up" invisible stuff that only existed in her mind and gave it to us. In her room was a book that was written when she was still sane. It was fucking terrifying to read her old words and compare it to the husk that she had become.
op should given the pmd test to his grandma
nice to see which pokemon should give the pmd test to his pokemon

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, OP.
>>27848753
Jesus fuck, the drawfags in the last couple of threads have done some pretty cool things haven't they?
>>27849466
Hey she'll soon forget she even has a grandkid. Might as well prepare now.
Thanks to every Anon who contributed.
I feel that OP. This year my grandpa got diagnosed. It was a bit too late for him. I'm grateful for the fact that I'm about 90% sure I'm the only one he remembers out of my whole family. When he sees me and smiles it crushes me a bit on the inside, but take comfort in knowing that wherever they are, they at least think that everything is still okay. Stay strong OP. Best wishes to you and your grandma.

This is just a solid reminder of being disappointed by Butterfree's shiny.

My grandma has Alzheimers too, but at least it's the kind that makes her blissfully unaware instead of constantly freaking out.
>>27849698
So that's why you're spamming Slowpoke.

Literally hitler.
>>27848661
It's alright anon, I guarantee she wouldn't want you to feel bad about her diagnosis. mental disease sucks, but do everything you can to prevent it in yourself since it may run in your genetics.
straight from googles.
1.) Regular exercise.
2.) Healthy diet.
3.) Mental stimulation.
4.) Quality sleep.
5.) Stress management.
6.) An active social life.

I had to watch my grandfather die of Alzheimer's, and there are a few signs that I'm going to develop it myself.
My wife's a computational biophysicist. The possibility of me developing the disease has spurred her into focusing on protein folding and misfolding, in the hopes that we might discover something useful in the next few decades.
Hold onto hope, Anon. Never let it go.
>>27848661
My Grandfather passed away around 2 weeks ago and my Grandmother is developing Alzheimers... The day after his passing she was wandering around her house looking for him, It's a really sad sight and I feel terribly sorry for her. I'm on the same boat OP.
