Is there a way to play 4th Gen and beyond on a TV using actual copies of the games and unmodified hardware?
Gen 1-2 you can use Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2.
Gen 1-3 you can use a Gameboy Player.
After that are you just out of luck? Battle Revolution doesn't have anything like hat does it?
Nope. The DS had a touch screen, so you couldn't really port the games to a home console. (the wii's aim-and-click being too slow and inaccurate for anything that required precision)
No, but using basic homebrew you can have playback with a 3ds on screen of a monitor. Not sure if it works for nds games

They're been putting a lot of DS games ont he WiiU VC recently, and a lot of Pokemn games, but I suspect they won't so so far as to add the core series. Possibly because the games still sell for about as much as they did when they came out.
Also I think OP wants to play the copies of those games they already own, but on a TV, so VC wouldn't help

Nintendo don’t make anything out of the current sales though.
