And honestly, Gamefreak usually has clever as fuck designs for their Pokemon. Whether you like them or not, they're usually pretty well thought out.

All megas don't have to adhere to this, but I love the megas that look like they could only be a temporary evolution. Poor Glalie with its mouth unhinged and Slowbro getting halfway eaten.

Taste is subjective, those are my two least favorite mega evolved starters. Along with charizard x, but y is my favorite. It looks way like it would be way faster with the extra wings and slender body. Venasaur `would have to be stronger to carry that big tree. Sceptile has the missile tail, Blaziken has more flames but I can kinda see where you're coming from for the hoenn ones at least, I just like them.

megazard y makes sense when you think of its typing.he still looks like charizard but has a much more aerodynamic design to it making it look more like a flying type. the head spike functions like the tail one, it overall has a much sleaker design
