Easily 9. The plot was a rehash of Jirachi except with May instead of Max, half the movie was spent shilling a shitty spinoff game, and the villain was something right out of an awful western cartoon. And that's not even getting into the random SSJ Ash sequence near the end.

Genesect movie because Femtwo is a retarded idea to promote megas and its plot is not great.
Giratina movie because antagonist is retarded and Shaymin is annoying.
Victini movie because it's pretty boring when rewatching (because there is no real antagonist nor great action for most of the movie).

All of the 3 are enjoyable but I consider them the least appealing. I need to watch 6th gen movies though.

Easily Jirachi: Wishmaker
I hate that I have to say that too cause Jirachi is my favorite mythical. The idea of a Pokemon that resides among the stars and grants wishes always fascinated me.

However, watching the movie made me feel sad. So much opportunity wasted. It had some good set ups like with the magicians, the festival celebrating the comet, the fact that Jirachi needed a close connection with someone, the fact that they signified the days of the comet, and May's Wishmaker.

All that went downhill as it was just BORING. The whole movie was a road trip, and a really boring one through a desert like setting. Max and Jirachi had some moments, but I didn't feel much when they had to say goodbye, and for some reason the Groudon that was wished up was a whack ass one.

Then there's May's Wishmaker, I was really expecting something out of this and I was excited to see what this was gonna build up to but it was pretty much nothing.

Pretty underwhelming movie that I wish would've utilized more of the wish aspect of Jirachi. Oh well.

The reason most critics judge the first movie badly is because they don't understand why the movie teaches the moral of "fighting is wrong" while trainers actively have their Pokemon battle.

What they fail to realize is Mewtwo was fighting out of hatred and the entire battle was senseless.

This movie was opportunity that was missed that it's like throwing a dart and it landed on the bartender.

For some reason, Diancie is a princess.

Ok.

Rules over Carbink and is in charge of creating a Heart Diamond.

Ok.

She cannot make one so she is tasked to go find Xerneas to be granted its Fairy Aura in order to create one, and has to meet up with Ash and friends cause they have to be in the story one way or another, as with all movies.

I am ok with this set up so far, it's gonna be a magical adventure going through mystical caverns and forests unveiling the secrets of Diancie, her kingdoms or those who ruled before her, what does her kind contribute to the world and so on right?

Wrong.

It's a road trip, but it's a damn ass boring one. It's pretty much a longer episode of the anime. Diancie and the gang go around some cities and junk cause why not but this is where it goes downhill.

For one, they've established that Diancie has been regarded as a mythical pokemon that has immense power through its diamonds and other lore like that through his book a character pulls up, so again, it's established that this pokemon has been regarded throughout history.

What happens? No one blinks a freakin eye at this thing. I'm not kidding, it obviously looks a lot different than other pokemon in these cities but no one recognizes it, or even asks what is it.

The movie doesn't even try to get out of it, like they could've said that Diancie has been hidden away in its caves for centuries and that very few people like historians, and all the related even know about it, but they don't.

Then we reach the villains. I think these villains are pretty cool, they all have a gimmick that they follow with their starter like a ninja with Greninja, a Knight like gimmick with Chesnaught and a Witch for Delphox. These people are severely underplayed. Going to continue soon

So, generic princess trope #500 has to go on magic journey trope #615 to save her annoying carbink friends who literally serve no purpose but to spew exposition to the braindead kids apparently.

Why does she have to go on the journey? Cause magic crystal macguffin will stop working otherwise. We dont know what actually happens to the carbink. It could be they are slightly inconvenienced by the lack of light or they might die. We have no fucking clue so we have no stake in the plot.

Diancie meets with Ash and co, do stupid shit that amounts to nothing, and Ashco decides to join Diancie.

Team Rocket captures Diancie, but let her go when she makes fake diamonds, which is the extent of their role.

So they go find Xerneas to unlock her special power. Dear god doesn't do shit and says the power is in her to begin with. So, we have power-within garbage.

Then there are bounty hunters trying to capture diancie or whatever and have no character, they only serve to accidentally awaken Yveltal whos in a puddle for some unexplained reason.

Birb starts wrecking shit and characters who we give no shits about start 'dying'

Diancie mega evolves to save Ash and chums, so we have the power-within bullshit arc completed.

Then she de-evolves, doesn't use her power to stop yveltal or anything. Deer god shows up, saves everyone, calms yveltal. No consequence.

Ash and co were literally pointless, the diancie character arc actually had no bearing on the main conflict, there was no motivation, the action sucked, we didnt care for the side characters who had no screen time, and the whole princess journey/power-within is so dumb a 4-year-old could have written it.

Absolutely nothing was accomplished during the course of the movie.

Utter garbage.

So we get a little backstory on these guys. Chesnaught people are father and daughter who are renowned thieves by Team Rocket (who does nothing but to be far, they usually do nothing in these movies.

Ninja and Witch girl used to have a thing going but broke up I guess, we don't get much on that.
Why did these people become the people they are? Idk.

So they're after Diancie. For what purpose? Does Diancie have healing gem abilities that the Chesnaught daughter wants for her father who is implied to be sick?

Nope. Money. That's it. They know that Diancie can create diamonds (which is odd if we've established that many people in this day and age don't even know what Diancie is.) so they want the diamonds so they can make money or some shit.

What do they need the money for? Again, idk.

Their battles are also pretty underwhelming too. We get a cool scene where all three villains get a face off but that goes nowhere. I would've loved to see that or get a line that shows they've had relations to each other before but nah.

It gets even worse as now Diancie is going shopping now. Not even the fact that she is going shopping bothers me it's the fact that at this point that she has a duty to withhold as the only known ruler of her kingdom which could be urgent, which we find out later.

Then her Carbink guards come out of nowhere and start chasing Diancie, worried sick cause she ditched them and we have a "Chase Scene"(?) in a mall. Real action here isn't it.

Blah blah blah we find out her Diancie's kingdom is in great danger and we have to get to Xerneas quick. They get to Xerneas and Xerneas says that Diancie has the power within her the whole time.

Afterwards, they end up fucking with Yvetal's cocoon who ravaged the forest they were at a while ago and proceeds to wreck shit. VIllians are given redemption, Diancie mega evolves out of nowhere and the day is saved.

I will actually admit that seeing Yveltal wreck shit was pretty cool imo. Then that little scene with Xerneas and Yveltal having sort of a brother-sister implied relationship for a few seconds was nice, wish they could've expanded on that.

So all is well but oh no! They pull a Mewtwo Strikes Back where you think a beloved character is going to die, in this case, Pikachu, but Xerneas saves everyone who died, I guess if that's what you want to call it.

They pull out of their ass which is that I guess they were trying to have this movie have a relationship between Bonnie and Diancie like with Max and Jirachi or May and Manaphy but I'm not kidding, they really only share two lines together and that's it.

Also with the fact that Diancie isn't Queen. They pull that BS that she's princess when she's the only monarch around and should be Queen. Now I would've suggested if making the Heart Diamond by Mega evolving was a ritual that Diancie also wanted to prove herself for cause this was the passage of rite to be coronated queen and that was something that she aimed to accomplish.

I would've enjoyed it a little bit more if Diancie was played up more as a curious person, you know with being in the caves for so long, she's either scared or nervous of interacting in Ash and Co's world or is like an Ariel character where she's fascinated by all these things up above her world.

I'm disappointed cause they really didn't explore the beauty and mythical aspect of Diancie, which could've led to many stunning visuals.

Overall, really underwhelming movie that didn't even feel like one.
