>be 10
>playing Sapphire and having a great time
>get past Fortree City because I can't enter the gym, there's something invisible in the way
>this starts playing
>beautiful scenery all over
>cross a wooden bridge over a lake
>Steven gives me the machine that lets me see the invisible Kecleon

I don't know why but this is one of the moments of the journey that stayed on my mind. It all looked so beautiful, that bridge, the Scorched Slab, the sunshine and rain, the sky reflected in the puddles, battling the Milotic cooltrainer, catching Absol...

Post your favorite memories playing pokemon!
>>
Hoenn had the most interesting routes. I also enjoyed the vast sea routes and ocean exploration. I wish they would have expanded on those features, honestly.
>>
the rainforest routes in hoenn are god tier
>>
>>27816074
I can't even remember scorched slab in the original games, what the fuck?

Mine is always
>You just took your first step into KANTO!
and bug catching contest.
>>
>>27816195
It only had a lake inside, you could only surf across it and get the TM for Sunny Day.
>>
I enjoyed almost all of the places in hoenn. I thought it was a nice place to be.

>playing HG
>never played originals
>come across the cave in Canalave
>know it's a new addition cause what autist doesn't learn everything about pokemon
>enter the route
>dat music
>feels like my adventure is just starting even though I have half the badges
>sit there on the cliffs, realize it's the edge of the Johto region
>right across the water is a whole other region
>think of Hoenn for some reason (water, embedded tower, maybe that anime map)
>feel so full of adventure
It was the first time I had felt that there's a whole lot more in the pokemon world than what's on the screen. So many countless possibilities, so much to explore. Listening to the route's track never fails to make me yearn for more adventure. Here's hoping Alola doesn't disappoint the way ORAS did.
>>
When Mr. Briney took you to Slateport and you passed the shipwreck on 108. It made me and my sister's curiosity go crazy. We never managed to explore it back then... but a few years later I did. Wasn't exactly what I expected but it was cool. Hoenn has a lot of warm memories. Back then I was more interesting in exploring the routes and the caves and the cities. Everything was so bright and tropical it was very heartwarming and exciting. I get some nostalgia from FR, Pearl, and Heartgold too. By the time Gen 5 rolled around I was too old to look at it from a kid's point of view. I still greatly enjoyed Unova. Kalos has yet to grow on me.
>>
>>27816074
Route 119, Fortree City, and Route 120 are my favorite places out of any of the games. Best routes to have a secret base for sure.
>>
>>27816292
>Canalave

I think you mean Cianwood. Honest mix-up though. Both Western port like cities featured in Gen 4 that start with the letter C
>>
>>27816074
I like hoenn because it had no route gates
>>

>>
The first time I saw a Steelix in Olivine gym. It was hype as fuck.
>>
>>27816392
Still, Route 47 and 48 were very fun to explore. I like the Safari zone they did too. Lots of different sections to explore. It is odd that you can just move land around like that though. The embedded tower was cool too. I like the design of the Gen 3 legends, it looks like idk ancient mystical tribal shit going on.
>>
>>27816383
What about Cycling road?
>>
>>27816404
I liked Kalos, still laze around the benches in Coumarine city actually. I just expected more from ORAS. I've only played until the first gym when I was younger, and I still felt the lack of effort put into them.

>hmm look at this square, I wonder what's down there, let's take a look
>>
>>27816404
I enjoyed Gen 6, just not as much as the older games. Partly due to being a kid back then (so you get to experience things with more blissful ignorance etc.) and partly due to them making the games easier because they claim that the current generation is too distracted by mobile stuff. Gen 6 looks amazing, if it was just a bit more challenging it would be a better experience. Also, I like both 3d and 2d, but 3d gives less to the imagination. The world seems smaller, somehow. Or maybe that is just the adult me talking, idk
>>
>>27816488
I love and hate that route
>>
>>27816074
I was feeling your greentext OP but then I played that youtube clip. I play RSE regularly but that song is pretty awful. Most of the music in RSE is not very good.

Pretty much the only one I stop to listen to is the Verdanturf Town Theme.

Littleroot Town is pretty good, great starting town music.

Honestly, Gen III had great music.
So did Gens 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6.
>>

>tfw Slateport Museum is one of the few things ORAS did right
I loved learning about all those tidbits of water. I still remember running into that tumblr post about the reason Kalos' water hardness is so high because of all the pokemon-stones like on route 10 from the war.

Route 113? Took me a while but sounds pretty good. Sounds like an 80's synth classic with some modern touches thrown in.

>Make my way through Viridian Gym
>Giovanni and I go blow for blow
>My last pokes: Ivysaur
>Nidoqueen is his last
>Defeat the fucker with struggle alone.

discovering all the different biomes for the first time in saphire still realy sticks in my memory
>walking towards fallarbor town and everything turns brown/grey
>entering and exploring meteor falls
>that little forest bit on the way towards lavaridge
>first time entering the dessert
>route 119
>fortree city
>diving underwater to catch deep sea pokemon
>sootopolis beeing inside a crater
it really did feel like an adventure
>>
>>27816074
You have no idea how much discovering Kanto after Johto excited me. I'd never played the gen 1 games (Silver was my first), so getting to play an entire region I missed out on was awesome.

Discovering secrets in the overworld is always neat. Sinnoh had some great ones.
>Fuego Ironworks and northern Floaroma meadow
>mountain path around Eterna forest
>second entrance to Wayward cave under cycling path
>Route 224 and Pal Park (kinda)
>>
>>27817374
And that little bit past Victory Road.
Too good.
>>
>>27817374
I loved those. Sinnoh is still my favorite region despite the flaws of DPP
>>
>>27817374
We'll get to see more of those in the remakes
>>
>be 10 year old me
>playin' Gale of Darkness
>get to Greevil
>catch Lugia no prob
>final battle begins
>theme plays
>oh god yes
>shadow scanner goes off on all of his pokemon
>oh shit nigga
>espeon, ursaring, walrein, shiftry, mightyena, and camerupt fugging shit up
>catching everything left and right

still to this day, I remember this theme and it fills me with great excitement. The Shadow Pokemon series were seriously great games.

>sometimes takes me and the little sis to work
>we generally just play gameboy or watch the little TV in the waiting area (the receptionist was nice enough to turn on nickelodeon or cartoon network)
>pokemon movie coming out (can't remember if it was the 1st or 2000, both had similar promotions)
>burger king giving out pokemon toys
>mom never takes us to get fast food

>one day she takes us to work
>theres a burger king across the street from her salon
>suddenly one of her coworker friends opens a draw filled with pokemon toys
>the women who ate kids meals (to cut back on calories, late 90s health logic) saved all their toys
>pooled them together for me and my sister

Yeah, people like to downplay the new locations but Route 47 s one of my favourite places in the franchise for that very region. The idea that you're at these sea cliffs deep in the mountains overlooking the ocean with the waterfalls near you?

Fucking fantastic. And sea cliffs are still an entirely unique location in the games.
