B/W are the only Pokemon games I have never played yet, but I know there are sequel versions of these.

As someone who has not played this generation before, should I play Black and White or Black 2 / White 2?

BW1 if you care about the story
BW2 if you want more routes, more post game and lots more Pokemon to catch

Depends. If you really care about the story, don't play BW2 without playing BW first. If you're a gameplay-only type, you're fine to skip to BW2.

But if you have time, play both.
