Yeah, but that point is moot since you can get literally any Pokemon almost immediately very easily by Wonder Trace or just transferring one in from Bank. You can get any Pokemon you want before you even get to the daycare. There's no reason for starters not to be 50/50.

If these two were introduced today, they would probably be two forms of the same pokemon. Like "Pikaclone Minus Form" and "Pikaclone Plus Form". I mean, different Oricorio forms looks more like distinct pokemon than Plusle and Minun.
