I'd defend RBY solely on the fact that they were great at the time they came out. They haven't aged well, but compared to X and Y, which are pretty bad and generally recognized as such so shortly after their release, they look pretty good.

I'd say the last 3 generations in general were pretty weak, but at least 4 and 5 had Pt and BW2 to mitigate some of their original flaws, Gen 7 never had a chance.

Ignoring the nice quality of life changes, XY easily.

R/B are the worst for how outdated they are/bugs. They're just nearly unplayable garbage. The remakes are alright it still very dated as they lack the physical/special split.

I liked ORAS. Soaring was a fun, comfy addition that I've wanted since Gen 1, and it had all the mechanic changes from XY without the shit region and rival/friend handholding. I tried playing through XY again recently and I just couldn't bring myself to care about any of it.
