Why doesn't PUSA do English covers of the Japanese them

Because the non-Japanese distributors allocate less airtime to the opening sequence, and as a result they have to be a lot shorter. There's no value in adapting the Japanese openings when they can't use them anyway for this reason.

That's lame, shame kids today will never get theme songs like the 90's/early 2000's

That's always been the case. Theme songs are shorter now than in the '90s, but even then they weren't as long as the full Japanese openings. Using the Japanese openings never would have been practical, even then.
