But, if the anime is going by the games' book (which it seems to be), Pikachu's attack power would only go down if the opponent defends against a physical attack with King's Shield. So, to say that anything Pikachu hits it with while Aegislash is in Shield Forme would lower its attack power is inaccurate. At least according to the games' standards. Not sure if they actually contradicted that in the anime though.

The trials are just random RPG shit like how he was plucking weeds in Ramos's gym. That doesn't work.

The thing is the games doing away with the Gyms and adding a new quest really sound like the perfect opportunity for the anime to finally use a new protagonist and not Ash. Its a real shame they keep sticking with Ash over and over again and his character and the show suffers for it.

I'd rather Ash just get some specials similar to the Mega Evolution ones where he faces Elite 4 members, and then occasionally recurs in the main series
