I mean they had an interesting story but then they completely dropped the ball because they realized they couldn't make a good rebuttal to N's argument so instead of refuting Team Plasma's ideology they made their leader SUPER EVULZ.
Not that I mind that it's not serious but then don't pretend to have a serious, compelling story in the first place.
Pokémon is fine with a simple, over the top story like with the gen 3 teams, and also a more realistic "gritty" (compared to the other games) feel for gen 1. The gen 5 story was the worst because it was a half-assed bait and switch with a twist that made everything meaningless.

Oh God no, they were so insufferable it hurt (for like 75% of the game, then at the end they got better)
I really liked how they developed, and I find it very gratifying that we get to see what they've become in BW2, but their character development is only this good because their started as annoying one dimensional caricatures of themselves.

I'd have liked him if he had kept his shit together and just got really cold and distant, but he just loses his shit. Though his team really does him credit, he's out there to stomp your fucking ass (I like that we only get to fight him once because he probably never would have kept weak mons on him like Giovanni).

Maybe it was the french translation ? Bianca was way too stupid for a 14 year old and Cheren was an animu edgy top of the class guy.
But I really like how Bianca ended as Juniper's assistant and not a trainer, because she was obviously not cut out for it. Cheren as a first gym leader is nice, because it shows that pure, brute strength is not his primary concern anymore. Though his team is really boring.

I didn't find Bianca as stupid as people say. She's clumsy but I ended up finding that more endearing than anything. I liked how she wasn't sure of what do to with her life and being low on self esteem without being annoying about it.

Cheren is an edgelord alright, which is what make his developement work.

Even though MUH STRENGHT is a cookie cutter conflict, I bought it during his interaction with Alder halfway through the game, though that might be because I like Alder in general. People shit on him because of his team but he was a cool "carefree wise guy" character we don't get too often in Pokémon.

Bianca was fine but I wish the whole conflict with her dad lasted longer. Like maybe you run into him at several points so you know he's going off looking for her instead of just the one encounter at Nimbasa which Elsea immediately cleans up.
