It's not that I don't believe it, I just don't really care or feel like it's going to be meaningful. None of the "themed" things in pokemon ever leave much impact on me.

The Rockruff bit seems a little forced, but the whole Philosopher's Stone theory, with Albedo (Solgaleo) and Nigredo (Lunala) parts, actually fit well the alchemic theme.

Although Gen VII has ties to alchemy both in the starters (salt, mercury, and sulfur make up a very significant trio in alchemy) and Solgaleo's motif of the sun-eating lion, -- the symbol of alchemy -- we're probably going to need to be revealed more legendary Pokemon and lore to make any truly stable connections.
