This is something that's been bothering me about X and Y for a long time. It's about the rivals, and it's not that they're missing most of the game or don't have full movesets which is actually still a big problem it's that they are such flawed versions at their cores to show people are different.

They are all trying to be different people by reciting the same lines (making memories) or actions (competing pokedexes/spinning around) they could have done so much more and just didn't give enough of a fuck to make characters special. Ie trading version exclusives with Trevor or get tips. Contest rival against Tierno, or have a minigame he excels at.
