It makes sense, like is ORAS the same as ruby and sapphire in any way apart from some looks? I say taking the GTA approach to the game history and lore works well for pokemon, for every new hardware generation the universe createds a new multiverse split for GTA its four for pokemon its two.

Multiple universes allows for creative freedom, which is great.

That said, so much about Pokémon falls apart when you try to put all the pieces together logically. I think it's cool that the series doesn't try to take itself too seriously, and instead focuses on making something light and fun.
