Ok, this is weird. I changed my the first Pokémon to a Kecleon and went to Ragged Mountain. First turn, level dropped to 12 and stats changed accordingly.
HP 0/1 (and somehow, I'm fine)
Attack -197, Defense -203, Sp. Atk. -177, Sp. Def -195.
Then I recruited a Minccino. I controlled Kecleon, but the camera actually followed Minccino. I'm not sure why this happened, but from what I've seen later (and haven't tested properly) it might be because I was looking at Minccino stats and the camera just locked on it, meaning I could get it back to Kecleon if I wanted. Maybe I'll try it again later.
The dungeon part is strange as well. I can move Kecleon around. Walking over items, stairs and traps doesn't do anything, unless you select them from "Underfoot", attacking or using moves doesn't work. If anything interact with me it stops and doesn't do anything after that. This happened to the Minccino I recruited, and apparently if a Pokémon interacts with a stopped Pokémon, they get affected too. I can move Minccino around by changing place with it. Before finding an enemy, it actually followed me. Now it just stand there doing nothing, like the enemies. Changing its tactic is useless as well.
I ate an Oran Berrry and a Reviver Seed hoping something would happen, but it didn't. Enemies are still affected by items properly.
I got out of the dungeon part and the camera works properly now. I just noticed Kecleon isn't marked as part of the team in the bottom screen, while the other menu does. The grid part when outside of a floor works in the same way I described above, but it doesn't let me get out of it unless I defeat the Pokémon.
At least the wind worked properly. I got out of the dungeon and I finally have my single HP. The moveset seems to be fine.

>>27705334
The highest one I've tried so far is FF, which is the highest you can get. It just crashed the game. There's also a bunch of presumably placeholder stuff, I'll post about it later.

By the way I guess the problems weren't because of Kecleon itself, but because HP dropped to 0. I got back to the dungeon and everything worked properly. This is even worse than how it is in Explorers, isn't it?

Apparently this is what its stats are like at level 100. I'm trying to find out when it starts to be playable now.
>>
>>27707230
Just a guess, but could it be possible that some of the negative stats when leveling down were just from swapping from the original Pokemon to Kecleon?
When I started my Gates run, both of my starters copied the stats from their original starters' forms, and I immediately leveled down from 7 to 6.
>>
>>27707324
That actually makes sense, I didn't think about it. I guess the way I'm doing it right now is pointless then. Unless I go from level 1 to level 100? I'm not sure. I'll just try to find a better way later.

>and I immediately leveled down from 7 to 6.
That's because the experience needed for the Pokémon to be at a specific level depends on the Pokémon you're using, so it should be fine. It's the reason I went from level 42 to level 12 when I tried Kecleon.
>>
>>27707324
That makes sense. I guess the game is subtracting Kek's insane stat growths from anon's measly mortal original stats, like it does when you eat a Doom Seed.
>>
Just reposting the 3DS downloads to RRT and Gates to Infinity, just in case people need them. They're still not in the OP, while Sky, Wiiware and (most of) Super's downloads are.

Just playing it on the 3DS to see if the save doesn't corrupt in the postgame. Nobody who downloaded it before ever said anything about the postgame, and since the save corrupts when quicksaving in a dungeon, it's kind of a gamble as to whether or not the game's even playable after beating the main story. If it does work, then I'll probably try to recruit everyone like some of the other anons here.
Picked Totodile for the team base design, and Treecko's a grass type, so I was hoping to find a Bullet Seed TM.

Hello, I got SMD recently and I'm having quite a lot of trouble connecting with the later legendaries. The only one I've beaten was Mewtwo, and that was with the strat the FAQ recommended. Who should I head after next, and what sort of team would you guys recommend? Here are my options:

Darkrai
Reshiram and Zekrom
Rayquaza
Groudon
Kyogre
Kyurem
Giratina

What kind of wands are you bringing? Truant, Confuse, and Slow Wands are the best for boss battles.
Use whoever you want and roid them up until you're happy with the difficulty.
Giratina, Kyurem, and Darkrai are all relatively easy. I've heard it can be helpful to bring Kyurem to bosses because of Glaciate, so you might want to do that early on.
Groudon and Kyogre's dungeons can be a little rough, so you might want to save them for later.
Sky Ruins is pretty brutal, so do it near the end. Bring a lot of Reviver Seeds and maybe a few Orbs. You could also cheese it with Memento+Curse if you want to have no fun at all
>>
>>27722598
Grass types can remove it too

Apparently had to check the mail to unlock Buried Relic. Didn't remember that.

Going to autosave dungeons on the 3DS version of Red will corrupt your save if you turn it off without saving in bed. Instead of being considered defeated like normal, I got this message. I still haven't tested out what would happen if you saved in bed normally, but I'll do that soon. I'd recommend people to hold off on playing RRT on the 3DS for now, because the chances of you losing your save are pretty high.

Backed up my save before doing this, so no progress was lost.
If anyone knows, would it be possible to remove the game's auto-quicksave function, along with preventing the Rest feature from working? If that could be done, then it could be possible to make a working cia of the game without risking any save corruptions.

I've heard that the few IQ evos that exist (Swadloon, Azurill, anything else?) now will evolve after using enough the group attack feature.

How does Return and Frustration work in these games, I wonder?

Also.

Jesus fucking christ
I'm liking the gameplayof SMD, but holy FUCK when is the plot starting to get moving!
I've only just unlocked the fucking connection orb for christ's sake. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a great game but it is REALLY starting to drag on.

Also, please tell me you can evolve somewhere in the plot.

Also also, how painful is levelling and any other general tips you can give? I've read the FAQ but is there anything else? Thanks in advanced if so

I don't understand why people don't like that part of the story. It's simple and nice, not everything has to be muh edgy future betrayal whatever. Also if there wasn't something like this before the story changes its tone I wouldn't even like it as much as I do, it would just feel out of place.
>>
>>27731986
It would be an IQ evo if Chunsoft wasn't like "hey IQ. Guess what. YOU'RE GETTING AXED"
>>
>>27732020
I don't understand either, slice of life is comfy as fuck and Serene Village's song makes the atmosphere perfect.
>>
>>27731960
If you've played a PMD before, you'll probably notice that enemies give a lot less exp than in RT/EoS, but later on you motivated teams of Pokemon which multiply all the exp you get by a certain amount. And all benched members also get exp, so it's a trade off, not that I like it.

I recommend you make use of wands a lot, particularly the wall jump ones, and that you can use orbs in boss fights now.

I wish there was more postgame story. I don't mean something like Explorers that keeps it relevant, just the Pokémon doing whatever in Post Town and Paradise, and maybe Munna coming back. It would have given more reasons to play the postgame, which I think is more interesting than the story part of the game, considering it has more mechanics unique to GtI and it's when you start to be able to do whatever you want.
I noticed they tried to give you reasons to spend money, but you just get too much just by exploring the dungeons, even during the main story. Maybe a shop that sells materials at a high price would have been good.

If you want that for some reason, play Explorers of Sky and never give any attention to the other games. Then start to shitpost about how EoS is and always will be the best one and the other ones being shit, including the ones that don't exist yet and any possible PMD game ever.

Cheats (as in editing the ram, which you can use for stuff like custom starters and maybe to find some cool unused stuff in the games, look at the past few threads), mods (you can make some easy ones by yourself if you care, but I think we may see major mods for the PMD 3ds games in the future), screenshots in any game (a lot of them doesn't allow it for no actual reason), backing up, restoring and editing saves are the major ones. Also emulators and GBA games.
The New 3DS also gets an option to use the full hardware in games that normally don't support it, meaning they run slightly better, and video streaming to PC.

There's more, but this is the most important stuff.

I don't understand why this isn't in Super. At first I thought GtI was the slowest game because of the text speed, but I think it might actually be the fastest one when you look at the gameplay itself. Using L to select a move is a great idea. I think Super should have kept the option to choose the move from the menu though, from my experience L and R are tend to get broken easily.

Chatot uses "watashi". Bidoof uses "asshi" and ends his sentences with "-gesu", Corphish uses "oira" and has the catchphrase "heihei" (since his name in Japanese is Heigani, in English the catchphrase is just "hey hey"), Sunflora uses "kyaaa" instead of "oh my gosh" and refers to herself using "watashi". Still have yet to see how the others refer to themselves.

Rin/Jigglypuff refers to herself as boku despite being set as a girl. I'm guessing only Vulpix/Eevee/Chikorita/Torchic/Skitty were set to use watashi, and everyone else uses boku regardless of actual sex. Personally think it's cuter since it makes her seem tomboyish

Unrelated to Japanese Sky, but I just tried out Super's startermod codes. Right now, they seem to be working fine. The ordering of mons seems a bit weird though. It seems like it goes in National Dex order, but also includes megas, and it also goes out of order sometimes. Igglybuff's ID is 2D, while Jigglypuff's is 2E. Poochyena is 14C.

The problem is that in Explorers stuff was still happening. You were introduced to the Dimensional Scream much earlier and the mysteries behind it, and it saw a fair number of uses even before what exactly it was was explained. It's introduced, used, and helps directly foreshadow future events. You're also already part of the guild at that point, so there's no need to introduce an entire new gang of characters halfway through, either. Just Dusknoir and Grovyle.

By comparison, Super really doesn't do any of that. You get the Harmony Scarves early, but their ability to evolve you doesn't come into play until much later, so they don't really serve much narrative purpose and don't see much use or foreshadow anything in stark contrast to the Scream. On top of that, changing the setting from Serene Village to Lively Town means that they have to hastily introduce you to an entire new area and cast of characters, which means they're not going to have nearly as much time to introduce themselves or have enough screentime before the darkest hour and climax both hit.

tl;dr: They tried to do two PMD stories in the span of a single game - either the Serene Village section or the Lively Town section could have made up the plot of an entire game all by themselves. I'm in the same mix as you guys in that in hindsight I like the Serene Village sections a lot more than I did when I first played the game, but at the same time, they have so little to do with the Lively Town half and the actual plotline of stoned mons and all that that it really feels like the plot takes forever to get going. I really don't know what the hell Chunsoft's writer was thinking. I wish they'd bring back the second guy they had back in the RT/Ex days, since it seemed like having another person to bounce ideas off of helped to smooth stuff out.

Powersaves edit the savegames, which you shouldn't buy since you can do the same for free with a modded 3DS.

Using the AR3DS codes. There's no list or anything here, so it's all trial and error as to what Pokemon you want to get, but they seem to be in order for the most part, so it shouldn't be hard to get the mon you want.

>>
>>27747565
Oh, right, I still haven't told you.
Since it can get a little annoying after a while, I suggest you to use NTR and the RAM viewer plugin instead of the browser exploit. That's how I made the list.
>>

I found this in the projectpokémon thread, you could use it to find the IDs

>>27747616
Thanks. Didn't know about NTR's RAM viewer, that makes things a lot more convenient.
>>
>>27747684
To elaborate, I have BootNTR on my gateway and use it to check the ram. I just didn't know it could be used as an exploit.
>>
>>27747684
Don't you have a CFW? Any entrypoint is enough, you can use whichever you like.
NTR has a lot of features, I'm not going to list them though. Just put the ntr.bin in the root of the SD card and install the .cia. Then you can use the RAM viewer/editor plugin or the debugger to edit the RAM directly, which makes it faster because you don't have to wait for the QR code page.

So many pokemon they could add as starters but don't. Not that I'm complaining about the ones we can play as, but there are so many pokemon out there a human could viably become without going insane (though pawniard and misdreavus are pushing it imo). Oh well. Here's the next set.

I don't think there has been a graphical glitch yet? I am not sure. The game's running at decent speed.

Audio's definitely kinda choppy, but it's not ear-rape.

For reference, when I was using the official Citra build (which I did about few weeks ago, I think?), I couldn't get past the intro - it was just too slow.

I am not sure; there's debugging tools, though. Maybe that's where it is?

also I had to restart because I am not sure how censoring works in this game.

I've heard GtI had more censored words than the main Generation V games, including languages the games are not in, like Portugal. Is that really true?

Serebii's quality on it is... eh. Like, it uses translations of Japanese in places that didn't have English names already (dungeons, items that didn't originate from core series like evo items, etc.)

How do cutscenes work with modded starters?
>>
>>27764379
Kind of like Sky, where if they have to play a specific animation that doesn't exist, a placeholder gets used instead. Unlike Gates where any expression they don't have is portrayed with the neutral expression, in Super characters that don't have the right portraits use a blank portrait with the color indicating the emotion used. The expressions on the model work fine though, Jigglypuff gets angry eyes and puffs up her cheeks when she's agitated.
Scarves don't show up, and since my combo didn't have stone versions of themselves, they simply didn't appear at all in that cutscene.

Mystery Dungeon is a series of roguelikes by Chunsoft. It started with Torneko, a spinoff of Dragon Quest, and outside of Shiren, all of the games in the series features characters and elements borrowed from other series. This thread is about the Mystery Dungeon games that feature Pokémon, called Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Excluding some of the postgame dungeons, PMD isn't structured in the way a traditional roguelike is, making the game easier to play and learn.

>>
>>27767293
I'm not sure how they work in Gates, but in Super dungeons have barely visible sparkly tiles that can sometimes give you bars, and supposedly the excavation looplet makes it easier to find them.
You can get a bunch when you level up your team rank.
You can also exchange 100 of an item in storage for gold. You can buy up rocks and sticks from the keks for that method.

The cutscene where the partner jumps on rocks to try to reach the Tree of Life is hilariously stupid if you're using a custom partner like Jigglypuff. Not that it wasn't a bit ridiculous to begin with.

>>27767293
For Gates, there's an item called a Gold Scope that makes finding bars much easier, and you automatically get one when you finish the Great Glacier for the firet time. In both Gates and Super, shining spots usually contain gold bars, so look for those.

Haven't remembered much about Super since it's been forever since I last played it, but it's not as hard as a few people made it out to be.
