My first guess was that the starters somehow affect Rockruff's evolution. In X and Y, the legendary bird you unlocked in the game depended on your choice of starter, so I thought the same would be true for Rockruff's evolution.

But it could also be something as simple as receiving Rockruff along with your first starter, as a sort of second starter, like the first gen starters in X/Y or the elemental monkeys in Black/White. Maybe this particular Rockruff is the only one in the game who is capable of learning a move that's based on your starter.

Bipedal, anthro, muscular werewolves are probably the most common depiction of werewolves, given their blending of man and wolf. But then again, even the werewolves in twilight were quadrupedal. But then you run into the problem of them just looking like normal wolves.

The quadrupedal design works in twilight because you actually see the humans transform into them. But for a game like Pokemon with so many animal designs, a quadrupedal werewolf will just look like a regular wolf. To distinguish it, they probably will make it bipedal, more anthro and all that to really get the point across that it's a werewolf.

By the way you're totally allowed to dislike the idea. Doesn't bother me. Personally I love it, and I hope the designers go through with it.
