Decent Start so far

I just got a copy of OR and X (as part of collecting every DS/3DS title, as it stands I've got all of them or have the one's I'm missing on hold in a store for me or being delivered to me now :D )

I was thinking of Nuzlockeing one or both, but with the following clauses:

1. Shiny Clause (must catch any shiny pokemon and must use in team)

2. Doubles clause (additional attempt for capture of first Pokemon in area if the first pokemon is a Pokemon I've caught already, including in that evolution chain, but excluding branched evolution pokemon like Eevee and Wurmple).

3. Not sure what to call this clause, but similar to doubles clause. A clause where if I've heavily used a Pokemon in another game, I get to try for a new one. This is to lean more on the 'use Pokemon you've never really used on a team' side of Nuzlocke. I'm building a living dex and am about 640/721 so far, and am realizing how few Pokemon I've actually used in game.

4. HM clause (if I need a HM slave to progress, I may catch the first pokemon I can that can learn that HM, then release it once I've progressed)

What do you guys think?

There's been a lot of ORAS nuzlockes here recently, maybe consider adding another to the pile, friend.
But to be frank, HGSS feels like the best game to nuzlocke. It's quite long and and could end up being a very fulfilling experience if you don't get burnt out.

I have a similar rule in my runs that I call "Heroes Clause". It's a ban list of pokemon that I beat the final battle with. It does help diversify your runs a bit, but it can suck if you're no longer able to catch a particularly good pokemon.

rock smash in darumaka is better than facade/return, you can hit Rock-types pretty hard
and you dont need to swap
you get hammer arm when it evolves to darmanitan
but until then its pretty damn useful

I took on Brendan and this is all that's left. Combusken pushed my shit in hard. Crusher Wake is only alive right now because Combusken derped and used Peck. And he was whittled down enough to die to two Tackles.

This is one part tragic and one part hilarious.

I dont see a lot of people here who post their original rules. do you all mostly use just the basic rules set by the hard mode comic?
when I did that I thought the game was too easy, so I through together some more rules to tough it up

Seviper got slammed with a crit Wild Charge from his Luxio and Paras got roasted by Elekid's Fire Punch. Poor thing was so close to evolving too. I'll miss her.

I like the way the team is shaping up. There's definitely some mons here that I don't typically use. Also, Tunnel Luv has a serious horseshoe up his butt, he was knocked to 1 HP twice, once against Blue and once against Surge.

Pokemon Uranium is a challenge trainers keep throwing pokemon at me and I have no idea what their typing is. Also all the wild pokemon I'm finding are max level 6 while the trainers are using level 12's so grinding seems mandatory.

If you didn't randomize trainers, you may have a boring run anyway. Also, the real challenge of random is getting wiped by a Mewtwo in the middle of grinding, so you might as well go all the way. These are just my opinions, enjoy your run however you want.

And as expected, Paul the Sandslash demolished this gym, no Volt Switch shenanigans and not a single Magnitude below 7. The only thing mildly annoying was Emolga's static ability.

I'm worried about the upcoming Triple Battle though, IIRC Charles is rocking two fossils and a flying type, which will be a problem for my team. This could potentially be a run killer.

I originally went in with little expectations due to never actually playing White 2, but so far this has been the best Nuzlocke I've ever played. I don't wanna get cocky, but I think we're gonna make it this time.

I think the funny thing is not too long ago I was complaining in this general that Heugh killed the Grimer I was trying to catch in Castelia Sewers, while we were stuck in a Double Battles mode, and I had to settle for a Zubat, which I considered just cheating and disregarding the rule for that scenario, but I ended up rocking the Zubat anyway, and here we are.

Things really do happen for a reason guys.

A makuhita with belly drum and a grumpig that had power gem rekt like 3 of my pokemon since i didnt expect such good teamwork from npcs. Is Take Down worth it on Audino?

I'm rocking Attract / Secret Power / Return / Ice Punch, and that "coverage" has pretty much worked out fine (Secret Power on grass fields have been putting Audinos to sleep for grinding too)

But Take Down stab might be cool too? I use Leftovers on Audino so it's not like I lose much from recoil, but I dunno about that 85% accuracy.

It spreads through your party through either steps or battling. It stops spreading after a certain amount of time, but it only counts down when in your party. So just keep an infectious pokemon in your box for when you need more pokerus

Platinum has a more dire level curve and things like the Galactic bosses and gym leaders generally have more threatening teams. Cynthia's team is also even more deadly at the expense of a couple levels on her garchomp I believe.

And the second one is down to preference, I prefer emulation to speed up grinding phases.

Mars was a nightmare. I always found her hard on regular platinum. Her yanma was a pain to kill. Double Team + speed boost + sonicboom. Nearly lost Biggs/Cubone, Dutch/Linoone and Juno/Aron trying to kill it. Luckily Dutch still had Odor Sleuth

Purugly was a pain with it's hypnosis but I just swapped back to Juno after healing her up and it was a breeze.

Look up the Moemon patches. As far as I know, most of the English-version ones are just sprite swaps, so they're compatible with Randomizer (i.e. if you want to iron out impossible evolutions).
