Alola forms are a neat bonus on top of substantial updates.

If this was the same cookie cutter pokemon game we've gotten before but with Alola forms i'd be annoyed. But witht he shakeup fot he new formula, new Z-moves being introduced and the addition of some weird new pokemon with crazy new abilities, it just seems like the Alola pokemon are the cherry on top. And sure, some people dont like cherries, but dont toss out the entire milkshake because of one.

The difference is seeing an ice Ninetails is more interesting than seeing a random new ice fox pokemon. Remixing and readdressing old designs gets a different reaction than introducing new ones. People seem to forget that we're STILL GETTING NEW POKEMON

Please. The only real mechanic changes Gen VI brought us were the crit changes and type chart changes. If anything, megas just made the meta more stagnant and bland.

Megas: New gameplay element, stupid in terms of lore/flavor/story

Alola forms: Adds nothing in terms of gameplay that a brand new Pokemon wouldn't add, but is an interesting concept that shows that actual evolution also exists in the Pokemon world
