It's great. I think the reason that people think it looks shit is they view it as one big blob with the sectioning dismissed. The mouth will likely be closed in-game, to emphasize the sectioned aspect. It's just open in the CoroCoro issue to highlight the ghostly nature of it.

I like the concept, if its supposed to be a mimic, but I don't like the design, I think the other mimic ghost pokemon have done a better job representing the object without looking too much like it.

It doesn't look like a Pokemon. And I don't mean that it looks like a Digimon or Neopet or Yokai Watch. It doesn't look like anything. Just a sand castle.

My main problem is the really simple art and the (I love the series but) yo-kai watch esque design. A different design for a sand castle mon could have made it viable.
