I usually mix it up with gen 3 because it's almost never mentioned.

I thought Donphan was gen 1 because of the anime. I was waiting for it to be an event like Mew until I got a Phanphy in crystal and I screamed like an autismo.

Ruby and Saphire had the prevolution in Mt Pyre and I think Medicham was in the cave before the E4.
Emerald had both of them completely absent.
Then in the gen4 games they were in a lot of places.
