You can actually see when the animators have reference sheets or not. For example, the first Vivillon episode had all the forms because they had sheets. Every other Vivillon in the series has been meadow because they didn't have those sheets. Same goes for every anime/cartoon.

Because like OP said, Ash could be a game character now. It's not even an unrealistic idea anymore considering Ash-Greninja was stated to be in the games by the leaks and ORAS already had a reference to Alain and his Mega Charizard.

This is a human character. They know how to animate humans because they already know how humans move. New Pokemon have different movements that need to be showcased.
Also, just because it is the same style it doesn't guarantee that the same person draw it. They follow the art director's or lead character designer's instructions.

They could be but if you look at any studio during production you realize that only the sketches have different styles. The finished reference sheets all have to be in the same style which is actually not hard for a professional to do. Yes, it could be the same person but not because of the art style.

Why would ash and Pikachu be a dead giveaway to whether its a fake or not? That's retarded; Ash and Pikachu are the most known characters in Pokemon. Even people who don't know anything about the games recognize them and could easily include them in their fakemon concepts.
As much as I hate these starters, the real (and only legitimate) confirmation is Mallow being in since no one knew about her until they revealed her the other day.
