Well, there is not many types of quests in RPGs

>fetch quests
Also includes all kind of craft, drop, harvest quests.

Every "kill 3 bumblebee" quest or get whatever boss down.

Probably the most boring thing ever. Also includes delivering quests.

Usually a pain as minigames are rarely good. That still can happen though.

Of course you can mix everything up and pretend it's a full fledged quest. You can even add some plot and call it "main quest".

What's important is not the type of quest because all types are boring if that's just "do this do that", what's important is the package, is it fun to go to talk to random people ? probably not. Is it fun to talk to random people and learn about them, the lore or learning tps about the game ? You bet it is.

Well, in good RPGs all of things are simply context for engaging in exploration and battles.When someone tells you to go talk to some fucker on the top of the volcano you have to ask yourself

Is the Volcano fun to explore? Are the battles/pokemon here engaging? Is the NPC im talking to interesting in their own right? Is this place fun enough to explore without any additional questline incentive?

If the answer to any of those is "no" its a flaw with the game and not really the quest system. It means the NPCs are boring, the combat isnt fun, and the environments arent interesting and varied. Not that the idea of giving you micro goals is inherently flawed.
