Bulbasaur: Only grass type with a flower, not just petals or leaves. The fangs are cool too.
Torchic: It's a chicken pokemon, and that's fantastic.
Poplio: I live near seals and they're noisy jerks and I can appreciate that.

Treecko - best starter, best Grass type, best Pokemon. Sceptile is infinitely aesthetic.
Cyndaquil - this line is frankly pretty mediocre but I have strong nostalgia for it.
Squirtle - first mon I ever used. I'm not a big fan of water types but Squirtle's alright by me.

Turtwig - one of my favourite final forms, unique typings and good memories from tanking everything in Nuzlockes
Tepig - He's actually pretty fun in SMD, and while Emboar is not 10/10 GOAT for me I don't hate it either, in fact its grown on me a lot.
Totodile - More fond memories as well as a respectable in game move pool. Hidden Power is good too if I could get my hands on it.

Finish off with Cofagrigus, Solrock and Escavalier and try some Trick Room action.

First gen every time. I don't dislike the other gens (aside from 6, 7 and most of 5), but first gen just got the starters so much more right than any after.

Tepig and Oshawott because they were the last starters that me and my dad watched in the anime and bith enjoyed, and either Rowlett(if the final form is the archer) because i think it looks cool or Turtwig because that evo line made Diamond bareable for me when i restarted after making the mistake of picking Chimchar.
