It's literally a failed attempt to replicate Lucario marketing.

He's just a little frail physically, I just bred one for an AG team and admittedly, like weavile, he needs a focus sash to do work

You'd be surprised how many people still fall for the tricks though, even players with like a full on VGC team like Talonflame Mega Kanga Lucario Kyogre try to hit disguised pokemon for their weaknesses - add protect to zoroark to scout moves out and he's a hell of a zany mon to use

True, I play with a mix bag of teams from different tiers, basically anything goes, on OU or VGC rules on showdown or battle spot, and people actually get thrown off when they think you're some 12 year old using the mons senselessly
