I think Bug as a type of "energy" involves characteristics such as persistence and maybe a bit of annoyingness, breaking the concentration of your enemies (Struggle Bug, Bug Buzz, the advantage of Psychic, although there is also the "fears" theory). It's a kind of willingess-to-survive and grow fast and thrive aenergy I think, since Bugs do have a lot of weaknesses and evolve very early. It's one of the hardest ones, but it's there. Well, even classical elements have some connection to characteristics of a person. I thought it was plain that the types are their own energy in the poke world, though. It's just that energy is manifested as a certain kind of creature in some cases. I am not a Bug person, but I will agree with it's the energy having to do with social aspects and the strength of many. Dragon, the type I do have an affinity to, is power, ambition, will, leadership. I am not nearly so bombastic, though. I am incredibly stubborn and will give up for nothing. I could probably sit here all day and philosophize on the types, but I'm not going to.

What about Fairy seemingly have a very strong relation to flowers? Yes, battle mechanic wise it's a relation with the whole Grass type, but flavor wise it seems to be specifically flowers (Flower Shield, Florges, Comfey). Also, Florges and Comfey are not flowers/plants themselves, they carry/dress up in flowers.

I think it has to do with Fairy's connection with feminity, reproduction, the sacred feminine of alchemy, tying it to the "spring", the "blooming" of new life (Xerneas).
