It's blowing my mind that this is actually the TRUE form of Exeggutor, with pokédex lore and even in-game evidence supporting it. (Exeggcute were Safari Zone exclusive.) They're actually FROM Alola.
>>
>>27483809
Why did its neck shrink?
>>
>>27483842
It couldn't get enough sun from Kanto's pollution-filled air.
>>
>>27483842
Because there were no Girafarigs around.
>>
>>27483842
It needs tropical climate to grow to full size.

Of course. Being a giant tree isn't a very good camouflage in an area without palm trees, so it evolved into a smaller, less conspicuous form.

But tauros was already shown in the most recent trailer.
>>
>>27484265
They either died or the other three heads ate them. We will never really know...
>>
>>27483809
They could probably justify the whole thing pretty easily. Something like Exeggutor is originally from a coastal tropical climate, where there is loads of salt water. Once moved to a different environment like the subtropical wetlands of the Kanto safari zone, it becomes bloated by absorbing excess fresh water, which is more readily available there.

Or something like that.
>>
>>27484105
Tauros and Chansey are both their base forms. Why didn't Exeggutor transform into the ling neck in Hoenn though, as it should be a similair climate?
>>
>>27484274
What the shit are you actually talking about
>>
>>27484392
That's a sub-tropical climate, not a tropical climate.
>>
I love when they "reveal" the true habitat for a specific old pokemon like Eevee being originally from Kalos and now Exeggutor being originally from Alola and everything makes sense
>>
>>27484392
Exeggutor can't be found in the wild in Hoenn, only traded from either Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Unova or Kalos, none of which ate tropical

Even then, Hoenn is more subtropical with relatively temperate areas on the east, not full on tropical like a Alola
>>
Would an Alola non-retarded Slowpoke work?
>>
>>27483809

>>
>>27483917
And it was the Jungle set
This is the true exxeguttor for sure
>>
>>27484537
Poison is weak against Psychic.
Kanto is bloated with Poison Types, a lot of them being Grass so they could live near it regardless. Just self defense.
>>
>>27484597
Just because it is a literal palm tree in the TCG artwork doesn't mean that they had his Alola form in full mind back then. But it's very possible that they based off that TCG artwork to create its form for Sun and Moon.

The other post is true that it's not in Gen 3 but it's also just made-up lore. Take off your tinfoil hats.
>>
>>27484537
Less dragons in Kanto and more poison types. Adapted to the climate.

You're all dumbasses.
There are likely fewer Exeggutor (and fewer tall plants in general) in Kanto, meaning the long neck was unnecessary as the Exeggutor no longer need to compete for sunlight. A few generations later, and the Exeggutor in Kanto have differed enough from the Alola Exeggutor to be a different form.

PLEASE. KANGASKHAN IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE POKEMON.
But what would the variation be? Male Kangaskhan? It wouldn't make sense for it to go from a male only species to a female only one. Then again Kangaskhan was always a weird case since genders weren't established during Gen 1. Also then again Nile crocodile genders are determined by temperature levels during incubation.

From what we've seen they've been good with the explanations for adaptations which is why I accept them. I hope they keep it up. If they show up with Dark/Steel Charizard or whatever other edgy abominations fans make like this
https://wiki.p-insurgence.com/Delta_Pokémon
I'll be upset.

Heres a few theories

- kanto's climate is mostly arid
- the region is mostly closed in and compact thus favoring smaller animals. (Which is also why pokemon like nidoking and charizard are so short)
-they were brought into kanto long ago and have since been bred to be smaller and easir to tame.

This is late, but I know in real life Okinawa they don't have many tall palm trees. The island, and southern Japan in general get hit by a lot of typhoons during the season, so the tall trees either get knocked down or don't grow that tall. Hawaii on the other hand barely gets hit by strong tropical storms.
My source is my aunt visiting from Okinawa was amazed at all of the tall coconut palms we had when she came over.

Reminder that there are actually dozens of cases of Pokémon that appear to be native to Regions they weren't introduced in.

Eevee, for example. Native to Kalos only, rare/giftmon everywhere else.

Houndour and Slugma, NOT from Johto. Jynx is NOT found in Kanto.

Togepi is only found wild in Sinnoh (conveniently where it's final form was first seen), and only given as a rare egg everywhere else.

Starter Pokémon are never found in the wild, possibly from other regions.

Rotom roam wild in Kalos, but were previously incredibly rare, with only 3 unique Rotom's obtainable across Gen 4 and 5, ignoring breeding them for more.

Heatran formed naturally in both Sinnoh and Unova.

Steelix probably first appeared naturally on Iron Island, Sinnoh, long before any trainers evolved Onix in any other region.

The Regi's are presumably from Sinnoh, NOT Hoenn.

And even this very Gen, Yungoose's Dex entry says it is not native to Alola.

Anybody know more examples? I find this stuff interesting.

Lickitung maybe?

The card makers LOVE putting Lickitung in these aesthetic as fuck tropical island/jungle art pictures where they're climbing palm trees and lapping up things out of reach.

Maybe that's the deal with Lickitung- it has that amazingly long tongue so it can grab hanging fruits from tall trees or something and it's in the safari zone a long with the other "introduced/foreign" pokemon.

I'm pretty sure all starter pokemon are "extinct in the wild" and are specifically bred and raised entirely in captivity for trainers to use.
I wouldn't be surprised if starter pokemon were native to their regions, but were simply plucked out of the local habitats due to how perfect they were for pokemon trainers.

>Eevee, for example. Native to Kalos only, rare/giftmon everywhere else.

Isn't it odd how what the pokedex considers an "extremely adaptable" pokemon would be so rare?
EEVEE I think was especially a victim of this sort of behavior: catching and hunting to almost complete extinction in the wild due to how perfect and convenient they were for people to train thanks to their ability to evolve and to adapt so readily.
I bet there were millions of Eevees- I bet you they were as common as any other "normal" type pokemon in the brush before people started snatching them up. Now they're so rare they're bred and sold as a luxury 'mon.

Take for instance the Remoraids of Johto: They swarm a very specific fresh water lake on Route 44 and I know it "looks" small in the games, but it's big enough to have it's own pokemon on the little island in the center.
Maybe they do this to lay their eggs? Maybe they do this so they can complete their lifecycle and evolve into Octillerys?
