In RS and ORAS, you can only enter a double battle if it's programmed as such, and double battle trainers never have more than two Pokémon. This is most noticeable with Tate & Liza.

Emerald completely re-coded the overworld double battle system so you can enter a double battle just by running into two otherwise normal trainers at once, and you can theoretically enter 6v6 battles (though I can't remember any trainers in-game positioned for such, closest would be the multi battle in Mossdeep against Maxie and Tabitha where they use six Pokémon and Steven assists you with three).


I will never understand why ORAS went back to the RS model when DP, BW, and even XY adopted the Emerald model. It's like how FRLG prevented you from evolving your Golbat until postgame except with a much larger impact.


Also, I know it's because of dumb Europoor laws, but it's still a flaw to not replace it with anything at all.

That would make 2 flaws, because removing the Game Corner or Safari features are not flaws (specially when you have the DexNav replacing any Safari feature you may want). Removing something is not instantly a flaw, removing the Battle Frontier is huge because it was a long and fairly complex post game replaced with something literally worse (The Battle Chateau) and teasing you about the Battle Frontier being under construction.

I don't care about New Mauville though, so that's more of a personal taste, if you want to call it a flaw go ahead.

I would argue it's reasonable to think they'd do something to the Game Corner other than remove it. This isn't like BW or XY where you can just not put a Game Corner in the region, it's already established that one was there. I mean when Sinnoh remakes inevitably happen we shouldn't expect a Game Corner because ORAS sets precedent, but before ORAS was released I wouldn't consider it completely out of reach for them to do something like make it an actual arcade place like some anons speculated.
