I used to think this, but honestly, I'd rather they just leave it be. Scyther + eviolite is fine in UU and an alternate evolution made in the modern day probably wouldn't do Scyther justice.

This is the smartest thing I heard all day.

Scyther is one of my favorites so by nature I was very opposed to Scizor but now I like it. When pokemon like Scizor and Steelix came out I thought it would be a sign of things to come. You have a regular pokemon and you can just give it metal coat and it gains the very powerful steel typing. I think they dropped that idea when they realized how powerful steel was. I still think more pokemon should get evolutions like Scizor where they leave the stat total the same but move everything else around.

Because Scizor is an unnatural, forced evolution that doesn't look much like Scyther at all, abandons standard themes of it, and performs entirely differently.

It'd be nice if we could see the more natural progression of what it'd normally look like evolved.
