Kind of autistic, but I always felt Hoenn had a "speed" theme of sorts. Iconic jet-based legendaries in Lati@s. Blaziken, Ninjask and Sharpedo having Speed Boost(the most of any gen). Mega Salamence and Metagross looking like aircrafts of sorts. Swellow being the fastest regional bird(until Talonflame beat it by a point and with Gale Wings), Linoone being the fastest regional rodent and having a bunch of dex entries talking about its speed, Deoxys being the fastest Pokémon in the game...
