Kanto's accidental open world experience in the middle of the game was neat.

I actually like how gen 1 and 2 (and partially gen 4) had some leaders/E4 members with more than just one type. Yeah, they're supposed to be specialists in their respective fields, but they're also supposed to be somewhat decent trainers. Having a little diversity makes sense.

Why are people butthurt about the whole Sinnoh gym leaders having mismatched Pokemon thing? Unless you mean you're upset at the general lack of type representation in the generation, then sure, but as far as just the gym/E4 battles go, I think it's neat for them to mix it up like that, as long as each Pokemon has an attack that matches the gym type, or is able to tie in with support. I don't mind having to fight Ambipom and Octillery in the electric gym because it's more interesting than just spamming Earthquake to win.

The Dragonair with all the elemental beams, parahax are much better than the weak in Sp.Def mono attacking water Seadras.
Whitney is a whimsical and moody girl, Clefairy fits her better.
Ledyba and Spinarak won't do anything better instead of Kakuna and Metapod, Beedrill and Butterfree despite still being shitmons would have been still better tho, even an early game Shuckle wasting players PPs or risking being a set up bait. His gym is a typical "ninja dungeon" you see in the 80s and 90s Japanese anime like Ranma 1/2 and Lupin, or you can personally witness in the existing castles / fortresses in Japan.

See the transparent barriers in gym, elusive tactics like Smokescreen and Double Team and Minimize, poison factor as in Poison Gas which Drowzee can learn or sleep inducing powders, webs and other poison dart shooting attacks, hazard traps and explosions, I think his Elite 4 team shows it very well.

He was pretty much the first not so subtle themed gym leader with Poison being just a dominant type.
