The 10 character limit was present until Generation 6. That's why you have Feraligatr and Victreebel. The names were trademarked so they couldn't change it and I doubt they would. They are iconic.

Pure Power should have boosted either solely the Sp. Atk stat or both attacking stats.

While it does make Medicham viable, it's basically just a reskinned Huge Power that could have benefitted from one extra quirk incorporated.

Because its name has already been that way for years and there's no reason to go through the hassle of changing the trademark. Pokemon often have corruptions in their names anyway.
