What's the deal with Politoad? I thought he was just a myth

It was the staple mon on almost every metagame team due to weather lasting forever and the amount of support Rain had. There was no other Pokémon so common on teams than Politoed. Ninetales was fairly common back then too, but only for the Drought ability. Politoed actually could deal with some mons by himself. The Gen 5 Weather Wars metagame is so much more fun than what we have now, but the metagame has always been overcentralized shit so I'm not gonna complain too much.
