The difference between gen 1 pokemon and newer gen pokemon is like the difference between early pokemon TCG cards and modern pokemon TCG cards.

>is like the difference between early pokemon TCG cards and modern pokemon TCG cards.
You couldn't have picked a more retarded argument even if you wanted to. Nice job.
>>27391336
i can see where he's coming from. no cards like diancie exist in the older sets - whereas all the old, simple pokemon still exist in the newer games.
>>27391189
I'm glad they decided to up the quality over the years.
>>27391189
Yeah. Diancie is cuter.
>>27391336
>Implying this is even a card
This is just separation cardboard in the way of my EXs
As someone who bought cards for the first time this week since the base set, I nearly shit myself when I pulled a full art holo Zapdos.
You're a faggot, OP
>>27391189
Better in every possible way?
Nice cherrypicking
Diancie is prettier
>>27391747
yeah, a zapdos that's part of the newer sets from 20 years later...
my whole issue with exs is they make the evolution mechanics totally obsolete, and megas made it worse, and break evos didn't really help

i used to have that card. I feel like i may still have it, but i want go look for it.
Old pokemon memorabilia is god tier. Found some old mcdonalds golden card with mewtwo
>>27392601
The top tier decks in the format isn't based around EX, though.
At most they use Shaymin EX for Draw Support or Seismitoad EX for itemlock, but the ones that net the prizes and are the real concern are others.
BREAK aren't bad either, they are either Stage 2 that you can't bring with Rare Candy, or outright Stage 3. And for the Water ones, they can't be Archie'd.
Don't let some big numbers fool you, anon.

>man, fuck those genwunners
>they're so fucking awful and blindly hate the newer games
>guys?

>all the Pokémon are trash

What the fuck is wrong with this board?
>>27392810
OP's a faggot and doesn't speak for the board
>>27392810
I've always liked gen one designs. They launched the franchise into ultra popularity so obviously there is something good about them.
I don't like the newer full-card CGI style artwork. It looks ridiculous and overly flashy. I just need some holo foil and high numbers. The reason why Base Set Charizard was so awesome is that it looked like a normal card, only slightly better. These weird explosive please-look-at-me MEGA EXTREME designs feel like misplaced bootleg cards. Base Set and most Neo sets were perfect.
>>27393459
That's just EX Megas and Break. Take a look through the normal cards some time, some of them are pretty great.
>>27391189
One big problem is the pokemon now have too much hp and attacks do a ton of damage. Stage 2 pokemon back then had a max 100hp.
>>27393512
If the HP and Damage have risen in proportion to one another, how is it a problem?
>>27393459
While I agree that having them all as CGI is boring, M-Beedrill looks fantastic, especially with that poison effect.
>>27392810
t. genwunner
Is this the CCG thread? Had a wild hair up my ass to pick up some cards and start playing for the first time in over ten years. Doesn't look like too much has changed other than some new mechanics and power creep. Where's a good place to start for getting back into the game?
>>27393621
t. Hypocritical underage
>>27392601
You're thinking of BW EX Pokemon. XY has gotten better about balancing them with normal Pokemon.
At the very least, it's better than the Prime mechanic. Those were just normal Pokemon that were stronger than normal with no drawback at all.

>>27391189
Ok am I the only one who always thought Machop's arm looks really fucked up in that art?
>>27393610
Much of the art is definitely awesome in its own right, I'll give you that. The cheesy text is pretty cool as well.
>>27393646
Buy a theme deck and 10 booster packs
>>27391747
That looks so fucking rad, it's not as obnoxious as the other cards where they just throw tons of effects and visuals onto the card you can't even see the text. It's got a really nice simple look to it but still looks awesome.
>>27393646
Get TCGO, look up a deck you want to try out. Buy 100 booster codes for like $10, then trade for the deck you want.
Don't open the virtual boosters, just trade them for the cards you need unopened.
>>27393906
useless pulls, you're better off trading them in for better cards
>>27392644
Yup, the card game has been power creeped hard. Yet, all sorts of super weak as fuck cards are still being printed.
>>27394725
Thanks
I don't actually play but kinda want to make a deck, or trade them for prettier EX cards
>>27394753
It's called collecting and system mastery. You deliberated make garbage as filler, these both leads to players lower along the skill ladder to waste money on shit and for skilled players to drive prices up since they selectively go for good shit.
Also, that power creep is necessary, the older cards made the game slow as fuck.
>>27394753
So its like every tcg game ever then
>>27394780
oh, well if you're just collecting them for asthetic purposes, go for full art supporters or full art EXs. they're the coolest looking ones.
As for gameplay, none of these cards are used, and anything from the B/W series is no longer used
>>27394837
>not using your favorites
I actually agree. I play TCG but I don't understand why Break or EX cards have to exist in the first place.
>>27394837
>and anything from the B/W series is no longer
used
What is Expanded?
>>27391189
Nah. I agree about the cards, but aside from some little differences XY is literally the same game as RBY.
>>27391189
Yeah, the newer ones are so much better in every regard.
is there even a m pidgeot card yet?
>>27397030
No.
Honestly, I forgot that M-Pidgeot exists.
>>27397046
