This goes directly against what they said about the NX existing alongside the Wii U and 3DS.

If the NX is both a console and a handheld it will invalidate not only the failure that is the Wii U but the mildly successful 3DS as well.

I don't see them putting their eggs all in one basket like this, it's way too risky. This is something you try when you have a successful console and successful handheld, not a console that's a total failure and a handheld that is successful but still under-performing compared to its predecessor.
