Similar to Star Trek, what if the community began to create Pokemon fan movies? Animated, or live action, with different levels of visual quality for each person, because the best part would be, none of it is necessarily related. There could be poorfags who make a Pokemon movie with only one or two actual battles, and go for a plot without fighting, maybe like a team plasma thing if they didn't have Pokemon, where the plot would be about a philosophy battle of Pokemon rights, or richfags with better equipment and CGI/animation skills could make full on action movies with high def Pokemon. Could it ever work? Would anyone from /vp/ do their own stuff?
>>
And yes, it goes without saying associations would appear that would publish movies, which, while would present easier ways to find good movies, would eventually cause the fan movie community to crumble and destroy itself.
>>
I'm not sure that Nintendo would be very happy about that, and they can be very litigious about certain things.

True. MAYBE if it was all purely non profit, but even then, Nintendo is run by inept money hungry old guys who don't give a shit about the fans.
>>

Who would we get to write the script for the Pokémon fan movie?
>>
>>27364014
Anyone who wanted to work on one. That's the thing, it isn't a Pokemon fan movie. It's a wave of them being created by different people all over the world, who are making unrelated works (unless of course they choose to make them related).

That's a bit unfair. They do have to protect their intellectual property. There may be a decent middle ground, but allowing unfettered fan use of their properties, even if not for profit, probably isn't it. Just as one example that I can think of, Pokemon is a franchise marketed towards children, and Nintendo is understandably squeamish about fan-created content that could tarnish its clean reputation.

True, pornographic movies, for example, would need to be reported and get shut down by the community themselves, just to suck up a bit. But how do you think a middle ground would be found? The associations I mentioned earlier being liscensed publishers of fan movies, and unless the association which was approved by Nintendo published it, it can be taken down?
>>
I wouldn't mind seeing an anthology type pokemon movie

Not just pornography, if I were Nintendo I wouldn't want my key children's franchise associated with violence, or even anything too "edgy," which would probably be prime material for fan works. Whether we like it or not, Nintendo has a right to control the use of its property, and if they think that an "edgy" fan movie is going to hurt Pokemon's marketability, they are entirely within their rights to shut it down.

Something like a Pokemon parody (which of course are done all the time, and aren't taken down) seems like fair game, but a straightforward Pokemon fan movie is something that I think Nintendo has every right to want to stop. Maybe that's the middle ground.

>The associations I mentioned earlier being liscensed publishers of fan movies
Licensed by who? Nintendo's approval is all that matters, not some licensing authority that has no rights in Nintendo's property.
>>
>>27364033
That would just be the fanfiction but with lower production values.
>>
>>27364191
Liscensed by Nintendo, yes. If you want to make an official association to publish the movies you have to get liscensed by Nintendo.

And that's what sucks about it, of course the edgy movies would suck and it's good they shouldn't muddle up the non-edgy movies, a lot of the more serious, or un-edge violent movies would get shut down. And I feel as though if handled with respect (and yet ridiculousness) it could be really good. An example of respect yet ridiculousness would be Bellsprouts wrapped around someone's wrist and firing bullet seeds. If handled wrong it would come off as trying too hard, but if they used it more to make fun of the concept, I think it would be something that would be a shame if Nintendo blocked it.

Yes I realize this post was an incoherent ramble.

Sorta new topic, what would you make your pokemon fan movie about, how would you do it (animated or live action)
