I like dewgong quite a lot, but I never use it because the games hardly make it available to you. In Kanto, you find Seel around the time you arrive at cinnibar, which is very late game. You likely have a water by then, not to mention you have lapras given to you by this point. In johto, it's more or less an equal situation (whirl islands).

In every generation after that, I can't recall ever running into a wild seel. Seriously, I literally have no idea where one could catch a seel in the gen 3-6 games.

It's too bad there are no early routes that contain seel, would definitely use it if that were the case.

You're... actually right. Looking at Bulbapedia, you can't get Seel until after E4 in Diamond, BW, and B2W2 (and Dewgong after E4 in Platinum or in XY with Ice Friend Safari), and it's just not available in RSE and Pearl. ORAS is similar, as you can only get it post Groudon/Kyogre.

Dude, the Beldum line is really popular.

Never available until the late game and just boasts a pretty forgettable design. Might be more popular if Seel could be caught earlier on, but like a lot of Fire and Electric pokemon they get lost because all of the hardcore elemental dungeons are always at the ass end of the region.
