I used Lapras in XY solely because it had a unique surfing model. That shit was too cool to pass up. If every Pokemon with Surf had it's own unique Surfing model, I would have used my favorites instead.

I've released that Lucario every single time I've played through gen 6 JUST to spite it. I fucking hate Lucario.

I can tolerate the Lucario because they wanted to show off mega evolution a lot, which is why you also get the Kanto mons. As the first games featuring it of course the're gonna shove it in your face with the most popular pokemon. But there is literally no reason for Latio/as to join your party. You don't even need it for the eon flute which you get way later in the game. And yes, I know it's better than it roaming around, but there's no reason they couldn't've made it so that you have to battle it to catch it. Just give Steven his own flying mon if you need more pokeballs, and make Latio/as revive itself like Reshiram/Zekrom did if you accidentally KO it.

That's not even close to being a comparison. Throughout the game before that point they force the idea that her other Lucario likes you, to the point where they try to make you feel guilty if you don't take it. If Z or XY2 had really been a thing, they definitely would've forced it into your party like they did with Lati@s in ORAS.
It's a dick move by Game Freak, and honestly you sound like a fanboy when you defend this.

There are plenty of things much more minor than this I could complain about regarding ORAS. I don't think anyone wants to hear about how I think it's redundant that May gives you a free heal on Route 113 when there's a rest house twenty steps away, or how Matt's battle portrait shows him with multiple Pokéballs in his hand, but every battle against him, including the one where he supposedly shows you his full strength, has him use his Sharpedo and nothing else.

A postgame Legendary being forced upon you as a gift five badges in isn't the biggest problem with ORAS, but there are plenty of smaller problems.
