Darkrai (and soon Empoleon)'s inclusion in Pokken Tournament is an advertisement for the Diamond and Pearl remakes being announced and released next year.
The Sinnoh starters will get Mega Evolutions, and there will be a "Platinum Episode" in the post-game, featuring Giratina and Darkrai.
