I'm with you, a healthy mix is the way to go, I'd way the proper new/old ratio is 1/3.

1 "classic" mon, 1 new mon, and 1 mon appropiate for the route.

I feel that way everyone could be satisfied. But still, it looks like they're excited to show a large number of new pokemon, so I think it won't be like X and Y

New Pokémon are always interesting and fun to catch as well.
