The design is based off a mascot costume. It looks like a mascot costume. It is not a subpar design, If it looks like what it's SUPPOSED TO BE. Good visual character design isn't just about making something look appealing (And Bewear actually does look appealing, especially in 3d) It's about fitting a theme and sticking to it among other things. Hey guess what? Bruxish looks ugly, but it looks like the animal it's trying to emulate. It's not a bad design. Neither is Bewear. I'm not saying you can't dislike Bewear, but it doesn't need to be fixed.

The legendaries this gen felt a bit over designed. Too many unnecessary bumps and ridges that don't add anything.

I have complained about this before and it pissed me off so much that I went and did the small edit to see how much it improves the design. I don't know, i think it's too muddy. No pun intended. The toned down colors sort of blend into each other, and getting rid of the accents on the hair oversimplifies it. Maybe just keep the clay at the tip of the braids.

And taking away the mud on it's feet makes it look like it's just more of that plasticky cartoon hair that i don't like about the recent gens.

Nah. Orange+brown is a good "earth" color scheme thats vibrant enough whilst still feeling earthy. If the armor isn't the focus, then Rhyperior would just look like Golem. Rhyperior is meant to be a construction/demolition themed mon.
The only thing wrong with Rhyperior is that it evolves from Rhydon, and so is compared to its design. Rhydon "gets away with being all one color because it doesn't have a lot of details, apart from the head stuff and is a gen 1 mon
