Gen one is the only gen that matters in the end.
If this wasn't true, most people wouldn't be genwunners, and Gamefreak wouldn't keep referencing the gen 1 games.

If your complain is not about design then it is not even close to being a valid complaint.

There's been nothing but improvements since gen 1 and it was vastly improved by gen 2 already.

Yes they are, that people have different taste is something else entirely but there's guidelines and key things that can make a pokemon universally loved or hated by basically everyone.

And the other points still stand, there's been nothing but improvements (and some set backs but even then it was always, in gameplay wise, better than gen 1) since the first games.

When people say they like Gen 1, do they mean the awful games or just the pokemon from it? I can understand the latter, but the first games were fucking awful and wanting to keep shit like limited inventory etc is just awful.
