Hi, /vp/.
Wanting to play the first gens on my 3ds but I'm not sure which version to get. I never experienced the actual games, only the remakes (FireRed and LeafGreen).
The thing holding me back from getting Yellow is if Pikachu is forced down your throat and there's no way to disable or box him so he doesn't follow you around. Also, I'm slightly more fond of the old Blue/Red sprites than Yellow but the color is pretty cool. Also curious if there's just generally more content in Yellow or if getting multiple pokemon leveled up easier/harder?
Genuinely can't decide. Any input is appreciated.

I went with yellow only because it's possible to get all the starters. I plan on boxing all the mons for SM. So the more I'm able to catch the better.

I just finished Yellow and thought it was easier compared to R/B. You can box Pikachu but he's the only one you encounter in the game and you can't get Raichu. Sabrina and Koga both have a Level 50 boss Pokemon but it's not as intimidating as it sounds if you have Snorlax with Amnesia. The Rival team is different from R/B as well and honestly, I thought he was easier too.
If you prefer the sprites from R/B, don't care about the color pallet being just Red/Blue respectively, don't want access to all the starters, don't want anime Team Rocket battling you occasionally, and certainly don't care about Pikachu then just go for Red or Blue version.
