Either one of the Gen 5 games can get brutal Especially challenge mode B2W2. Even more brutal if you pick Snivy, arguably the worst Starter for an in game run. Especially considering how the game stacks against said starter. I've attempted 2 nuzlockes of challenge mode W2 with a Snivy and both ended before the 4rd gym.

Black 2/White 2, then Black/White, then surprisingly X/Y.

If you really want to punish yourself, try nuzlocking a difficulty hack like Blaze Black/Volt White 2 on challenge mode. Bugsy is a monster. There's also Rutile Ruby/Star Sapphire, but gen 6 hacks aren't nearly as accessible.

FRLG are easier than RBY by quite a bit. Less criticals, less missing attacks, better movepools, fixed type chart, Abilities, Special Defense, etc.

Why do people think nuzlockes make a game harder? I trained and evolved my grass starter into torterra in pearl before i even got my dex.

Bw is the only game I've nuzlocked, it was fairly hard due to Snivy being shit and so many Pokemon having insane evo requirements considering you'll likely only be in the high 40s by N and Ghetsis.
