How could a creature continue to exist as a species if its death could be brought about simply by snuffing the flame on its tail, something that could happen a variety of ways? Usually all the life-critical parts of a body are shielded from the elements.
>>
I thought the flame on its tail represented its life force. When it dies, the flame goes out - not the other way around. Also, even IF the flame being on defined its life, so what?
>>
That abandoned Charmander seemed to at least think it needed to protect its tail flame from the rain lest it be snuffed.

Water cannot put out the tail. Red's Charizard in Origin remained underwater for an extended period of time and the tail kept burning. Pic related

Well there you go, that's your problem.

FUCK YOU, MAN.

If we just go by the games then Spoink is barely alive.

>Games =/= Pokedex =/= Anime =/= Manga

Do you understand?

Lives in an incendiary environment where extinguishing sources are rare. After all, you don't see polar bears living naturally in the tropics, do you?

Just elaborating on this: This is correct. The fire does not define the life of the Charmander - the life defines the fire. If the Charmander is healthy, the flame burns brightly. If Charmander is sick or weak, the flame burns weakly.
It also reflects emotional state: if it is happy, the flame burns normally... if it is excited, the flame burns intensely. It doesn't go out in rain or in water.

All this info is from the Pokedex in the games which you can see here. The anime invented that 'if its flame goes out it dies' crap to tug at your heart strings for the duration of the episode where Charmander was introduced. They probably never refer to it again.

>Games =\= Poked
lol k

this needs to be taught in elementary school so we don't have retards like OP.

How did humans survive when it takes us 16ish years to reach a point where we can physically be considered adults, compared to other animals which reach full physical maturity in a year or two?
>>
>>27257351
They do. Charizard's tail even gets weak at one point, and Ash burns his hands raw trying to warm up Charizard.

Charmander is based on the Salamander, who are born and live in fire. Without fire, they cannot live. So no, the anime didn't make up shit.

The Charmander in question was also abused by its trainer and likely sickly and suffering malnutrition.

Also it had been abandoned, and I highly doubt Charmander are native to forests; we never see them in the wild but it seems like a desert pokemon or something.
