Gen 1 baby here, was 10 or 11 at the time of release. I've played Emerald (fav Gen so far) and skipped on the rest up until now. With the release of Go I've decided to do some real training and update myself on the handheld games by investing in Platinum. Just finished the first gym. Anything I should know before heading onward? Planning on making my team Machop, Piplup starter, Abra, shinx, that pink fighting\psychic mesh, and garchomp.
Halp I feel like a kid again, blasting Kaunas with all the stringshot pp my caterpie had for "more exp"

unless you have a spare DS or a friend to trade with you might not be able to have Machamp and Alakazam besides if you use Medichan its pointless to have a Psychc, Fighting and then Psychic/Fighting pokemon.
you lack a flying type, as well as Grass or Fire type.
take that into consideration.
