They're really bland, especially back when fire and grass types didn't learn moves of other types.
Sceptile is great too, but completely useless in a playthrough in ORAS. Lucky for him that gen3 didn't have the special/physical split yet. Still needs more moves though..

Greninja is all right, but nothing looks more retarded than delphox and chesnaught, which is enough to make gen 6 the worst

Yes, the Kanto starters are shilled to death, but the main reason they win is the lack of a weak link. None of them were shit, either design-wise or mechanically.

Sinnoh is also great. The only thing holding it back is Torterra being meh competitivly, and the gen itself making either Turtwig or Piplup punishing choices.

Johto has the absolutely fucking based Typhlosion and Feraligatr. If Meganium were even decent, this would be easily the best starter gen. At least Chikorita is a great shouldermon.

Hoenn was meh. Swampert is good, and EZ chicken is bleh. Sceptile is pretty cool, but trash.

Kalos: Memefrog is pretty based, shilling aside. Otherwise Shitphox sinks this ship, while Chestnaught is just kind of there.

Unova: Piggy is kind of comfy, but these things are all fucking failures. First time I boxed my starter on my first playthrough right here. Shitphox sucks more than any of them, but there is nothing to help Unova's case, either.

Tentatively, Alola is above Hoenn right now, but we only have 1/3 of the designs. Rowlet is based, and both Litten and Popplio are good, if not great. If the evolution pull through, and they aren't shit, we might even pull ahead of Johto.

Sceptile is perfectly usable in-game. I don't know what you're talking about. I literally used a mono-Grass team in OR/AS and it was still pretty easy. You would have to intentionally gimp yourself hard to have a challenge in OR/AS. I think you just probably suck at the game. That's all.
