the meter on the bar doesn't change during Evolution, so the %CP will stay the same, however, the evolved form will have a MUCH higher max CP, therefore, you will get a serious boost of CP from evolving if the arc is filled up vs nearly empty

It does not matter. A Pidgey evolved with an arc at 70% will evolve into a Pidgeotto with an arc at 70%. The cost of powering up the Pidgey or Pidgeotto are the same, so never power up the Pokemon before evolving it because you'll waste candy if you get, in this case, a Pidgeotto with shit moves.

A friend of mine told me that locking the radar in one pokemon's footsteps and then clicking the compass will enable you to track down the location of the pokemon accurately because the white box with the footsteps starts sending out these green pulses.

I've tried it a couple of times but so far I haven't reached a conclusion, anyone else know more about this?

I hope the max CP is reasonably low. Haven't been able to play all day every day and people are already much more powerful. If there isn't a reasonable cap it'll just become impossible to ever win if you haven't been playing nonstop since release.

I've been enjoying Go on my phone so far but I've also been looking into playing it on Bluestacks for when I work all day and can't go out after dark.

I've got everything set up but every time I try to run Pokemon Go I get the Niantic loading screen and then the black screen of death. I'm trying to get it to work on my ASUS laptop and that might be the problem but I've gotten Neko Atsume to run on Bluestacks on the same computer so I'm not sure if that's the issue. Is it?

I'll go ahead and throw out a blanket statement that everyone should go by. If you're actually wanting to be competitive, do not spend candy on any Pokemon except Weedle, Caterpie and Pidgey. Save ALL your dust and candy for level 20 and up. If you do this, you'll be catching basics that are 500 and getting 1000's at final stage with no effort. I wish I had done this.

I passed by a gym located near an apartment full of USC students with a stack of 4 Dragonites at 1200-1500 CP. 8 hours later a 1200 Lapras had control of the gym. I wiped it out with my Jolteon and I'll probably lose it to the Dragonite squad before the night ends. What the fuck is the point of gym battling.

In order to level up my pokemon and beat gyms I have to use candy and stardust? And in order to get more of those I just catch a bunch of the same pokemon? I really want a gyarados but the only way it seems to get one is to catch ~100 magikarp.

They require the least amount of candy to evolve and are extremely common. Even at level 20, I'm catching all of them I can to use with a lucky egg. With 1k xp per evolution, you can gain a couple levels fast even at high trainer levels.

I was just on a 2 hour train ride back to my apartment and it was pretty cool because each train station was either a pokestop or a gym so I got to stock up after a week with nothing near me. I got to see what small towns look like and the gyms were pretty evenly spread by colors from town to town it was cool.

A Nidoking stopped by the office. Everyone got a way higher cp than me even though I'm 5 levels higher than everyone else. But even them the highest was like 600 and they had to burn 10+ great/reg balls on it and I needed one great. I came out on top I think.

Sharing some quick info I gathered today.

- Ingress uses the same data for the most part. Pokestops are portals, and cell usage is leaf/bush density.
- Bushes are not 100% pokemon, but rather the spawn location for pokemon. Respawn rates are either 30m or 1h (afaik most said 1h on avg).
- Rarity is not a solidified spawn, but types are. I assume (not fact) rarity is a random variable of happening, which has an internal CD before it can happen again. Much like how s2/s3 appear inconsistently, but consistently the same type for that spawn node.
- Gyms do not have to be held for 21h to gain the free coin+dust. You only have to put a pokemon in a gym, then go to the shop ingame to collect your defend bonus. The bonus itself has the 21h CD. Aka, don't bother defending gyms unless you want bad exp, wasted items, or baseless prestige.
- Precaching the gmaps info for your area helps load times, and data usage.
- Blue glow are recently caught pokemon.
- Since cell usage is part indicator, this can affect node density in an area, as well as types. An example would be our beach wharf has tons of cell usage, so it thinks it's a city. Voltorbs s1-2,, magnatites s1-3, Ponytas, and many others spawn on it more than water types do.


Tbh my goal is to find a ghastly spawn and get a Gengar.

I walked 3.5 miles to check out a park with five stops and a gym. One set of stops overlap and another are close enough you can take about 5 or 6 steps and trigger the other stop. Took over the gym for a while. Caught a 500+ Ponyta. I plan to go back again. It's a nice park.

The battle system is so glitched by server lag that it's not that fun to participate in. If it was tighter to allow for more strategy or skill in attacking and dodging, it'd be much better.

That's the only main complaint I have other than pokestops being in places that are difficult to walk to.

Yeah I've noticed that pokemon spawn in specific spots around my neighborhood. It's made tracking them a lot easier since I can just beeline for those area and see whether or not the footprints decrease.
