That actually makes sense. I think it would be a logical progression, IF the poor guy looked less liek a tortoise and more a camel.

The one I wished they had done a similar evolution to was pachirisu to emolga. they are both rodents in the squirrel family, so it would perfectly fit.
>>
I used to think that unknown were dead Pokémon

I thought Sentret and Furret were both single-stage pokemon that didn't evolve into or out of anything.

I thought Watchog wasn't a real pokemon because I'd only ever seen it in a romhack.

until I was 14, i thought skarmory was a gen 3 pokemon since i had never seen it playing silver/crystal and only in ruby or emerald. I also thought shuckle was ground type for the longest time and I thought rock was immune to electric since so many ground/rock types in gen 1.

This one is a common one, don't feel bad. All common Rock-types in Kanto were part Ground-type. The only exceptions were the fossils that you could never fight in battle aside from Aerodactyl

Ice is less dense than water.

The same amount of Ice and Water interacting doesn't end well for Ice, it becomes more Water. It's not very effective at doing anything to it's liquid counter part, basically.
>>
It took me ages to realise Steel wasn;t super effective against Psychic types.
It resists it, but doesn't do double damage. I know it makes sense logically that it wouldn't but it was the hype of the two types being brought in to 'balance the broken over powered psychic type moves and pokemon' that made me believe it.

Since Pokemon GO I've also had to explain that Gyarados isn't a Dragon type. Also had people telling me there's more than 3 dragon types in the original 151. And that there are lots of Fire types too.
I want to kill these people.

I thought that a Pokémon could learn EVERY move of its type/s and nothing else.

I thought Pokémon only knew 4 moves at once but could freely remember and forget them outside of battle at will, essentially you customized your Pokémon's moveset outside of battle and anticipated what moves you would need.

I thought Pokémon gyms were actually gyms, not dungeons with bosses at the end. You would go to the Pokémon gym to literally train your Pokémon.

>>
I thought using a rare candy gave you less stat increase than leveling up normally.
I think it was something an NPC says in Red/Blue, alluding to the fact that a Pokemon doesn't gain stat experience from rare candy since they aren't battling through that level. Of course I hardly understood that portion of the game, and those hidden numbers, so I just assumed rare candies were the easy way out, with less return.
>>
I thought Rotom was a legendary, because of the musical theme and the fact that D/P was already so legendary happy.
>>
If you are wondering, the badge stat bonus only applies to in-game battles, it doesn't affect growth, it merely gives an extra hidden modifier (I believe 10% increase, but seeing as how I've never noticed a difference in battles from it, it could be even less than that)
>>
>>27115477
I think it's one of those pokemon that people use as a distinction between legendary and mythical. Like Heatran and Shaymin you only have one in the entire game but lore wise there are multiple just very rare.
>>
>>27115496
>Didn't copy the rest of my comment

I thought that stat bonuses from gym badges affected stat growth. I'd try to defeat the gyms at as low a level as possible to have the most levels to gain increased stat growth.

>Snorunt is based off a snow youkai
>Froslass is based off a snow youkai
Honestly, Froslass makes more thematic sense than the other one.

>Dark is all about underhandedness and unpredictability, hence immune to Psychics, but Fighting is considered the "honor/light" category, hence being able to beat Dark and their evil schemes.

Pokemon stadium mightve been my first pokemon game before or after firered. Anyways I couldn't read. Always played with sister when I was 3 and all the info I knew about pokemon came from her reading the names from pokemon stadium to me. I always thought tentacool was acooltent etc

Was replaying crystal and thought weavile was gen 2 because I had a space after him in the pokedex and just evolved at like 80 so grinded a sneasel, then I looked it up, gained a bro with it though

I'm still convinced that psyduck and golduck are psychic types.

I always though attack and special attack attacks worked with physical/special split like they have since gen IV.

I mean, why the hell else would hitmonchan learn elemental punches, gengar be special attacker or dark type moves be physical moves that trigger rough skin.

I thought you could only catch legendaries with the masterball too, never encountered the birds in blue or yellow i guess. That was only encouraged by when I encountered ho-oh without a masterball and without saving beforehand, and it escaped from like 70 balls in a row so I just killed it.

Starting from Gen 1, it took me until Gen 3 to realize Rock was not immune to Electric type. Probably because all common Rock types were part Ground in Gen 1

Seriously, nobody remembers what Dark, Ghost, and ragon were because their moves didn't make sense. SO many people think Dark is physical because Bite.

>Ice was added in gen II
>gen II babymons were from gen I
>any of the honey tree mons exist in gen 4

Mothim's my bro, but I honestly forget burmy and wormadam exist.

It didn't even matter in gen 1 because the only dragon type move always did 40 damage no matter what. I remember having that pokedex toy that quizzed you on type advantage and stuff, it asked what types dragon was super effective against and I had no clue how you were supposed to know that

Yeah and then comes gen III with salamence, flygon, dragon dance and dragon claw, surely dragon claw was based on attack stat. Right? Right?

It sounds like something from Sailor Moon.

I knew Shadow Ball was physical until Gen 4 but don't tell me Dragon Claw was special until Gen 4

Dragon was special type with mostly physical pokemon, same as dark.

Also don't get me started on Shadow Ball and ghosts, physical move that reduces sp. def on type that had purely special pokemon until gen III.

I'd be really curious to hear their reasoning for all of this. Was it oversight, balance reasons?
>>
>>27126954
It almost made sense in gen 1 where you just had Special as a stat, and a high Special stat raised both sp. def and sp. atk. Also hyper beam was sort of ridiculous so completely ignoring that sounds pretty strong in itself.
By gen 2 there was no fucking reason though.

I used the think that the Bug type was Grass type when I was a kid. I thought Metapod was a grass type too.
