FUCKING RATTATAS REEEEEEEEE

I caught most of these at work since my job has a Pokestop. The Vaporeon was from an Eevee I found at a little over 200 CP. On the first day, I walked around the public university five minutes from my house to farm exp and pokeballs off all the statues and buildings. I'm almost out of balls now though. I'm going to have to head over there in the morning to resupply before I try going to the public park on the other side of my house. There are three gyms at that university, but I haven't tried to fight them yet. Blue and Yellow scum keep taking them back and forth, even after midnight.

I'm at level 10 now btw.

Doing the gyms is pretty optional since you usually have to go out of your way to find them. Also, you can just piggyback off gyms your team already controls by depositing your weak Pokemon in them to get the Pikachu coins.

You can level up very quickly simply by farming Rattatas and evolving them. Also, each Pokestop gives you 50 exp, so you can gain a lot of levels early on by going to an area with a lot of them in close proximity.

Have to agree. It hit me yesterday that none of the top evolution Pokemon (Rhydon, dragonite, etc) are trained/leveled/evolved. It's just about being in the right place at the right time. The best I've gotten is a 700CP hypno and a 400CP haunter. Cool finds, but it's kind of lame. The game isn't about training, leveling, or evolving Pokemon. It's about walking around all day with the app open and hoping to get lucky. Kind of a disappointment. I'm training myself (grinding my trainer level) knowing that level has some correlation to the rarity/CP of Pokemon I'll encounter. Poor execution.

My 332 Arbok can't be powered up anymore because I'm only level 5, however I've also been told sizes play a role in this too
My Arbok is XL, so another level 5's Arbok may max out at say 300 CP
When I level up the bar will decrease and the max will increase a little more each time

Yellow here. Level 20 and just playing with friends around similar levels.
Not really leveling anything up, just catching every pokemon and farming stops. Evolving weak pokemon helps too, like 500 xp. Don't waste stardust on any pokemon until you're sure you've found the highest CP you can.

I've caught around 650 total pokemon and 89 unique. It's really popular here and I've spent most of my time on it.
Don't use your stardust, until you have mons over 1000 from evolution and catching. You'll regret it.
Don't waste it on pleb tier eevee's.
Don't catch zubats past level 12. They're annoying and dodge often, wasting your balls.
Catch common bug types and evolve them often for 500 xp. They usually evolve around 12 and there's always plenty.
Follow lures, don't waste your own. Use lucky eggs in combo with other lures/incense.
Talk to people and see what they've caught in your area recently, maybe you can track it down too
